About timberluce design
Timberluce Design was founded in 2026 by interior designer Penelope Kiehl — known to most as Nellie — a diploma graduate of the KLC School of Design in London.
Inspired by British, European and Mediterranean living, with a relaxed New Zealand sensibility, Timberluce creates thoughtful, layered interiors that feel timeless, personal and quietly sophisticated. Having lived across six continents and nine countries, Nellie brings a deeply international perspective to her work, shaped by culture, craftsmanship and the beauty of collected spaces.
Her aesthetic balances antique and contemporary pieces, natural textures and muted palettes to create homes that feel warm, lived-in and authentic rather than trend-led. Sustainability and thoughtful sourcing are central to the studio’s approach, with an emphasis on reusing and reimagining existing pieces wherever possible.
Alongside decorative interiors, Nellie’s work also encompasses spatial planning, bespoke joinery, and kitchen and bathroom design — approaching each project holistically with equal consideration for beauty, functionality and flow.
Whether designing a single room, a full home, staging a property or helping clients thoughtfully curate and furnish a new home, Timberluce Design approaches every project with creativity, empathy and careful attention to detail — creating homes that truly reflect the people who live in them.
Inspired by her children, Tim and Lucie, the name Timberluce also reflects the studio’s appreciation for natural materials, warmth and light.
Projects and influences span London, Norfolk, Paris and Sancerre, France.
